So for many years, sub-postmasters were using handwritten ledgers and balancing their accounts with minimal shrink. Then, shortly after a new computer system was rolled out nationwide, suddenly one in twelve are allegedly thieves. The Occam's Razor of this is surely that the computer system has flaws, and not that a significant percentage of sub-postmasters have suddenly decided to take on a life of crime. It goes beyond arrogance to assume that the system is flawless, robust, or even "satisfactory" at that point. The entire codebase should have been subject to independent review and testing. Instead, Post Office Inc. decided to shift the blame onto defenseless people - their *own* people - and hound them in a manner that destroyed their lives. The legal games they played to buy time and attempt to save face are things one might expect from a large drug company or car manufacturer, but the Post Office is quite literally owned by the tax-payer. The government is the sole shareholder. These innocent sub-postmasters were being sued by high class lawyers who were being paid with their own tax money, while the imaginary shortfalls in their ledgers which they were forced to repay were then being reported as profits and paid to Post Office executives as bonuses. Even the internal affairs "investigators" who were basically witch-hunters were being paid commission for each sub-postmaster they "caught". One of the first acts of a new government should be to start prosecuting these executives to the fullest extent of the law - remove their fortunes and their freedom. The next should be a thorough review and reorganization of the Post Office, along with seriously curtailing its powers. We can't change what has happened but we can damn sure try and prevent it from happening again.

Erin got her hysterical ways from her Ma. Gerry is the character I feel for the most in the whole series....him and James....the amount of abuse they took from the women on this show is unGodly. EVERYTHING is his fault. This is why eventually Erin falls for James because of how similar he is to Gerry.
